Thanks for this ! Its something I been brainstorming about. Currently I am working on modularizing the service and move it to have a react front end so its more easier to mange and use. |

Hello! I think this is one of the best budgeting apps I've come across so far. The SimpleFin integration is brilliant and I'm using it as a reconciliation tool, my main ledger is Maybe Finance. One of the reasons I'm not running 2 instances of this app is the theme design and UX are very jarring to me. The green and gold is hard for the eyes to get used too, a good deal of font colors contrast with the backgrounds. It would be really great if there was a more "calm" theme or an option for CSS/theming. I could see this becoming my primary budgeting tool.
The statistics screen has a lot of well thought out useful information that many other apps don't provide. I love the"Financial Health" section. As a financial planner I think this is brilliant and I could see it being very useful for my clients BUT it shouldn't be an orangish red, especially if the user has really strong numbers. For example a savings rate of 19.5% at my age is nearly bang on what I should be doing but it's red. For long term financial health it should have an option to break out into investment savings and cash savings. Consider coding it so that it changes colors based on standard financial planning practices (age 18-28 10% savings rates, age 28-40 20% savings rate etc.) I'm happy to collaborate if you would like professional input.
My spending by category is brutal to look at, it's pink, purple and blue, very hard to get a quick visual. I'd also suggest using comma separated numbers to make it easier to read larger amounts. The only other suggestion I would have is to change the "budget section" to be more like envelope or zero sum budgeting. These are shown to be more successful and drive better habits. Between maintaining a ledge and reconciling it, while dropping funds into zero sum budget categories you'll have all the features of most budget apps and more.
I would happily pay for an enterprise version or suggest a subscription to my clients with these more fleshed out features.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
