I'm currently using a 4K 27-inch monitor with a scaled resolution of 2560x1440. I read Fully scalable HiDPI desktop, but I'm not completely sure: will using the same resolution through BetterDisplay with the "enable flexible scaling" option enabled make any difference to the overall text clarity? |

Hi @bkunat - you don't need flexible scaling to run the display at a same resolution that's already available - it is not meant to change the clarity of scaling, since flexible scaling is using the native scaling method. |

In this case the only resolution that produces a sharp image is 1920x1080 (HiDPI)? BetterDisplay doesn't make any difference on resolutions higher than that with this setup? I still don't get the scenario where BetterDisplay could help with the clarity of the scaling. Sorry if that's too obvious. |

Yes, I think it should as normally this display will only show proper HiDPI resolution for 1280x800 - while an optimal GUI size would probably be around 1600x100 or slightly higher, depending on distance. Enabling flexible scaling and finding the right resolution that looks best makes a lot of sense for displays like this. |

Ok. Thanks. Is this feature under the Pro license? One more question if I could: I'm currently using my 4K 27-inch with 2048x1152 for a little bit of space. Is this resolution only available because of BetterDisplay? If so this makes more sense to me as BetterDisplay provided those resolution options. And do you think I should make any configuration in the app to improve something? I haven't made any and basically just use the DDC controls on a Mac mini M1 with HDMI (I came from MonitorControl which does not support that and wanted to use HDMI over Thunderbolt because of an issue with gaming). |

flexible scaling is a pro feature, but you should try it during the trial. Also, the app won't remove the flexible resolutions after the trial, so unless you reinstall, things should continue to work even without Pro. |

Oh no, my trial finished before I got the other display I mentioned. It arrives in a couple of days. Is there another way I could test this before buying? |
