It works for me. Install as Linux in your WSL Ubuntu installation, and with Windows 11 included WSLg integration, UI software displays in Windows. |

Is WSL a hard requirement? GRASS can be installed on Windows with the standalone Windows installer, or through the OSGeo4W installer (that you can install other GIS software, like QGIS, SAGA, and many other libraries) |

At my previous employer , I was on Windows 11 and installed Ubuntu 22.04 to run GRASS . I compiled GRASS 8.4.0 from source to include the pdal libraries. r.in.pdal ran quite well to process LiDAR in chunks of tiles of 3000 or more at a time. I did this because the Windows version of GRASS currently does not support the pdal libraries. Otherwise, the native Windows version of GRASS preformed quite well for me using the large raster data sets created from the WSL2 version of GRASS. I believe the pdal issue for Windows is being addressed in the cmake build process currently under development. |
