Right now, if I have a series where one version of the series exists with one narrator, and then a later version of the series is released from a different narrator, all the books for both versions of the series are going to go into a single series. If the covers are nearly identical with only a minor bit of text for the narrator then it may be hard to differentiate between the two at a glance.
This is a problem on Audible and if you import your metadata from the Audible match, you'll end up with what is effectively two different series handled as a single series.
This also applies to narrated versus dramatized versions of the same series.
It's possible to store these in different series directories (such as
Lord of the Rings (nar. Rob Inglis)
andLord of the Rings (nar. Andy Serkis)
) and then use the directory structure as your preferred metadata, but that could create other problems (also, it's ugly and makes my eye twitch.)What I would propose is an additional option to the menu you get when you click on the three vertical dots on the upper right corner of the series page that toggles treating versions of the same book with different narrators as separate subseries, or even as two different series.
However, because some series have different narrators from one book to the next within the same series, applying this option universally across all series won't work. It needs to be specific to only the series you want to flag with this option.
