I did try to install WinMerge-2.16.48.2-x64-PerUser-Setup.exe on a PC where I do not have admin priviledges and I cannot write under the installer does not allow to select a target folder to install in a different path, as I expected. |

It’s likely that WinMerge is already installed for all users on that computer, under C:\Program Files\WinMerge. Unfortunately, if a system-wide version is already present, running a per-user installer like WinMerge-2.16.48.2-x64-PerUser-Setup.exe will try to update the existing installation, which causes this error. Currently, the only workaround is to uninstall the existing version. If that’s not possible, please use the ZIP version of WinMerge instead. |
