I was trying to add a custom channel for zsh-abbr similarly to the alias channel. The command in my terminal is similar as well instead of alias I type abbr. For some reason, in television I get zsh:1: command not found: abbr.

this is what I have in my custom-channels.toml file:

[[cable_channel]]
name = "abbr"
source_command = "abbr"
interactive = true

Just in case anyone else runs into a similar issue. This did the trick. Thanks for a killer tool!
