We will use the preprint of Jurasky and Martin (2021): https://web.stanford.edu/~jurafsky/slp3/

ALL of you are expected to read ALL chapters listed below! You and your designated group should present your assigned chapter to the rest of the group. Remember: Don’t start by 0, but dive right in. We are laying a foundation for the rest of the semester here!

General setting:

• 10-20 minutes per team (depends on the group size) + 15 minutes discussion and questions
• Push the slides (in PDF format) to our common GitHub repo a night before the workshop.

• Group 1: Regular Expressions, Text Normalization, Edit Distance (2.1-2.4 auf S. 2-22): Puddu, Blum, Kubon, Bateva, Wolf
• Group 2: Sequence Labeling for Parts of Speech and Named Entities (8.1 - 8.3 auf S. 148-155): Nebatz, Jennert
