superqt 0.7.5 (scientific notation label) causing segfaults

it looks like pyapp-kit/superqt#226 in superqt is causing segfaults here. If I check out locally, https://github.com/pyapp-kit/superqt/tree/b495c70206257ae14e57aac50ae6f878b253c50f consistently works, and https://github.com/pyapp-kit/superqt/tree/55b66393c39cd1b0b317751e0a68b1189b9140fe consistently fails

in #204 i pinned superqt to 0.7.4 for now
