For the past few years I've been working on PythonMonkey, a low-level embedding of Mozilla's SpiderMonkey JavaScript engine in Python, which allows the two languages to seamlessly communicate. I've learned extremely intimate details of how both Python and JavaScript function as a result, including their implementations in C/C++.
